A New bank of 6 high speed polishing spindles has increased our capacity for polishing high precision etalon substrates
January 2007
Three new 700mm continuous polishing machines will be added to our Optical Fabrication Workshops.
These machines will increase our production capacity as we continue to supply high precision optical flats to the order of Λ/200.
November 2006
Our third Zygo interferometer, a GPI XP/D instrument has been commissioned and increases our capacity to measure the highly specified polished surfaces required in our Fabry-Perot etalons.

Two fully refurbished BAK760 vacuum coating systems are now installed in a new coating room at SLS’s manufacturing facility on the Isle of Man. Both machines are fitted with two electron-beam guns and quartz crystal film thickness measurement controllers. The machines have been designed to allow remote operation. The new installations will give us:
• additional coating capacity for dielectric coatings UV to near IR
• ability to coat substrates up to 500mm diameter
• machine set-up for metal coatings
We have also moved our Sales and Administration departments to a new 1300 ft2 suite of offices in an adjacent building. Our manufacturing departments; Optical Fabrication, Optical Coating, Engineering and Optical Assembly and testing are now located in Unit L, Tromode Estate and Sales / Administration is now located in Unit G, Tromode Estate.

SLS Optics is pleased to announce the commissioning of the Zygo VeriFire AT Interferometer at its newly extended facility in the Isle of Man.
The Advanced Technology VeriFire leads the ‘next generation’ of interferometers from Zygo and combines unique illumination, revolutionary data acquisition and finely tuned electro-optical imaging to provide the technical leadership that will be demanded of tomorrows optical industry. SLS has specified the highest resolution imaging option available (1k x1k) which underlines the commitment by SLS to the tightest performance levels and the very best in Quality Assurance in the production of its ultra-flat precision optics.
The combination of the Zygo VeriFire AT with 1K resolution and the MetroPro graphical user interface creates the most powerful analysis package available and is the first to be introduced into the UK.
Standing head and shoulders above previous generations of Interferometers the VeriFire from Zygo places SLS Optics, once again, at the forefront of precision in optical fabrication and quality control.
